This course on Dental Photography explores the significance of capturing images in dentistry, focusing on the reasons and timing for taking photos in different clinical scenarios. Participants will learn how photography assists in visual data collection for assessing oral health, providing insights beyond radiographs, and illustrating changes in a patient's condition over time. The course emphasizes the value of photos in patient education, treatment planning, and showcasing various dental procedures.

Course Objectives

  • Understand the importance of dental photography in collecting visual data on oral health and patient progress.

  • Learn how photos offer additional insights compared to radiographs and aid in patient education.

  • Explore the use of photography for preparing treatment plans and cases, especially in orthodontics.

  • Identify the ideal timing for capturing photos during new patient exams, restorative procedures, recall appointments, and consults.

  • Master the art of capturing intraoral and extraoral images, specifically focusing on maxillary and mandibular occlusal shots.

  • Develop skills in editing extraoral photos to enhance clarity and relevance in clinical presentations.
